Job Description: Senior Cloud Engineer – Contract Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will work remotely from the United States, supporting a Fortune 500 client as a cloud engineer.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cloud infrastructure design and deployment: Architect, design, and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions for data analysis and processing. Utilize cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform to set up infrastructure components, networking, storage, and compute resources.
  2. Data ingestion and storage: Implement efficient and reliable data ingestion pipelines from various data sources into the cloud environment. Design data storage solutions, such as data lakes or data warehouses, to accommodate large-scale data sets and facilitate effective data analysis.
  3. Data processing and analytics: Develop and optimize data processing workflows and analytics pipelines in the cloud environment. Utilize technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or cloud-native services to perform data transformation, aggregation, and analysis tasks.
  4. Security and compliance: Implement robust security measures to protect data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Apply best practices for access control, encryption, and data privacy in the cloud environment. Collaborate with the client’s security and compliance teams to meet their requirements.
  5. Monitoring and optimization: Set up monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health, performance, and cost optimization of cloud infrastructure and data processing workflows. Continuously monitor and optimize resource utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  6. Automation and DevOps: Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate cloud resource provisioning and configuration. Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and enable smooth application deployment.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, preferably in a consulting or enterprise environment. Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, architectures, and technologies.
  2. Cloud platform expertise: Extensive experience with one or more major cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Proficiency in cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, and databases.
  3. Data analysis and processing: Solid understanding of data analysis techniques and data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop, SQL). Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Flink) is advantageous.
  4. Security and compliance: Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR). Experience implementing security controls and data privacy measures in the cloud environment.
  5. Infrastructure as code: Experience with infrastructure as code tools and practices, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible. Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef) is beneficial.
  6. Networking and virtualization: Understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, and load balancing. Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and containerization platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  7. Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect, are highly desirable.
  8. Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
